How to Organize Uploads with Albums and Hashtags
Chivent offers two ways to organize photos: albums and hashtags. They work differently and can be used together.
Albums
Albums are collections you create as the host. Think of them like folders.
- You create and name albums (e.g., "Ceremony", "Reception", "Photo Booth")
- Guests can upload directly into a specific album
- You can drag-and-drop to reorder albums
- Great for host-driven organization where you decide the structure
Hashtags
Hashtags are tags that get attached to uploads. Think of them like labels.
- You create hashtags (e.g., #bride, #dancefloor, #speeches)
- Guests select a hashtag when uploading
- Photos can be filtered by hashtag on the event page
- Great for guest-driven categorization where guests tag their own photos
When to Use What
| Use Case | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Wedding with clear sections (ceremony, reception) | Albums |
| Party where guests photograph different moments | Hashtags |
| Multi-day event with distinct days | Albums |
| Interactive "I Spy" style games | Hashtags |
| Simple event, minimal setup | Either one — or skip both |
Using Both Together
You can enable both albums and hashtags on the same event. For example, use albums for major sections ("Day 1", "Day 2") and hashtags for moments within each day (#speeches, #cake, #dancing).
